Spinsters are seven-legged spirit worldweavers. They weave labyrinthine worlds in the Gyrus, specifically optimised to prey on universal human fears. Spinster-worlds are built in a formulaic modular system. These worlds are built to look familiar to humans, often reminiscent of familiar places, often better, sometimes worse. The modular components can be swapped out to customise for the individual, while the pieces can be reskinned to be applicable to every human culture.

Spinsters can customise their webs to humans of any age and situation. Though most spinsters in the Anthrosphere have optimised their traps for humans, they will generally try to eat anything that comes close by.

Some spinsters infamously set up shop in old human residences, giving the appearance of a 'living dreambleed' and lean heavily into the 'haunted house' phenomenon. Spinsters often occupy dreambleeds.

Generally, spinsters will try to customise their web to mimic as closely as possible their prey's home environment and make people believe they are living in their own reality. Dreamwalkers will be strung along on a heightened roller coaster of emotional manipulation based on a reading of their desires and fears. This process weakens the dreamwalker to the point that the relatively combat-weak spinster can overpower them and suck off their life juices. Without this process, there is a high chance of escape, despite the spinster being able to manipulate the world to their advantage. A single human can sustain a spinster for up to a decade, or longer if it economises its energy. Spinsters can also be sustained off filter-feeding Gyrus dust as well as other small spirits. Spinsters often spend a great deal of time and energy creating enormous, elaborate and truly immersive worlds for their most prized prey - a strategy that is often high risk, high reward. Not all spinsters prey on humans, however.

Spinsters usually have no particular political affiliations, live in multiple clusters and can live indefinitely as long as they get to eat.
