General Information

Featured Content

The Omniverse Nexus staff consists of two explicit groups: Administrators and Bureaucrats.

  • Administrators are long-term trusted members of the community, and as such have access to some tools and privileges that non-administrators do not. They are otherwise equal to all other users.
  • Bureaucrats are the same as regular administrators, except they have the ability to add and remove user rights for other users. Bureaucrats can only have their rank removed by other bureaucrats. Bureaucrats do not technically need to be administrators, although in practice they almost always are administrators concurrently. Aside from this ability, bureaucrats are equal to all other administrators. This also means that, aside from those privileges reserved for administrators and/or bureaucrats, bureaucrats are equal to all other users.

Contact the Staff

You can contact a staff member on their talk page if you require any assistance from them. Before you leave a message, ensure that the staff member you are about to contact is active. You can check this by looking at the Recent Changes page and searching for their username. Their activity status is also listed above, but as that information may be outdated, looking for the date of the latest contributions may be your best bet at figuring out whether the user is active or not.

What do administrators do?

Administrators (including bureaucrats) are responsible for maintaining the wiki. Administrators are able to delete pages from the wiki, and can also lock and unlock pages from editing. They can use warnings to address issues with users, and can block users from editing the wiki if they violate the rules. Administrators are also able to make changes to the wiki's appearance and interface for users, through the editing of MediaWiki pages and the wiki's .css and javascript. Administrators participate in community discussions and help determine consensus in those discussions. In addition to all these (and some other) jobs, administrators make contributions to the wiki, just like any other user.

What can administrators not do?

Administrators should not use their powers to settle editing disputes. For example, they should not lock a page on a version they prefer in an editing dispute that does not involve vandalism. Administrator powers should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam, and users who make malicious edits, but not for simple disagreements between users acting in good faith. Ideally an admin should not be considered "in charge". The ideal admin is just someone who is trusted to have a few extra buttons and to use them for the benefit of the wiki community.
