The Dragon Daughters of Krayhan are three goddesses that are worshiped by a wide variety of denizens from the Karalian Empire. While the religion is mostly known through the Jaranese VR show Krayhanya-TanMeido da Yabokashi, it has far deeper roots going back to the era of the Drallan Federal Monarchy over 7,000 years before the founding of the Second Galactic Senate. Worshipers of the Dragon Daughters are called Wyfuans after an ancient city on Jaran that served as the capital of the Allied Sovereign Nations.
Researchers and theologists believe the religion has origins in the era following the Second Sinister War. The Eghos had committed mass genocide against the Vaikan - particularly targeting females to control their ability to breed. Even after the Sinister Hegemony was defeated, the Vaikan risked extinction. Under the leadership of Queen Rustiagon Gelda - the last surviving pure-blooded member of the royal family - the Drallan Federal Monarchy was able to recover and prosper. Gelda instituted many programs to help replenish the Vaikan population.
After the fall of the Drallan Federal Monarchy, the Vaikan population was still not fully recovered from the genocide by the Eghos. In spite of Gelda’s efforts, the male/female ratio remained horribly skewed towards males. To her credit, the Vaikan were no longer at risk for extinction, yet females were still a rarity. A direct result of this was that culturally, females were being revered as physical goddesses who were the salvation of the entire Vaikan species.
The exact origins of the Dragon Daughters themselves are rather unclear, but it is believed that three goddesses were imagined as exemplifications of the ideal traits for a female mate. They were referred to as the Dragon Daughters of Krayhan as ancient Drallan beliefs held that the Rustiagon bloodline carried the spirit of Krayhan. Thus, figuratively speaking, the Rustiagon family helped bring to life the female population. The three goddesses are Sashelma, Yoltoria and Kezoa.
Sashelma is the goddess of harvest and feast. She has traits of the Desmodan bat native to Ackarra. Desmodans were a livestock whose guano was key to the growing of the Geolichen potato - a staple crop since the Drallan era. Sashelma is very carefree and happy to share in her wealth of Geolichen potatoes - her favorite food.
Yoltoria is the goddess of loyalty and commitment. She appears as a Vaikan with flaming hair - thought to symbolize the fires that forge the bond between two individuals. Yoltoria represents a female who will never betray her mate and will always support them.
Kezoa is the goddess of war and conquest. She appears as a large, muscular warrior said to wield the strength of 8,000 men. Kezoa represents the defender of femininity and will protect all life so that it can procreate.
The Dragon Daughters remained a dominant religion coexisting with traditional Jamzezism for a very long time through the fall of the Drallan Federal Monarchy all the way to the era of the Allied Sovereign Nations. During the era of the Allied Sovereign Nations, it is thought that traditional Dragon Daughters worship reached its peak. The Allied Sovereign Nations was a hedonistic society with a strong focus on pleasure, and thus, Dragon Daughter worship soon replaced Krayhan and Morduin as the chief deities.
When the sterility plague struck the Vaikan thousands of years later, a sudden backlash against the Dragon Daughters occurred. At the time, it was unknown where the sterility plague came from, but some believed that Krayhan had punished the Vaikan for indulging in excessive, sinful promiscuity. A return to traditional Jamzezism occurred as well as the creation of the Code of Trust. It became forbidden to publicly express emotions because it was thought that the Vaikans’ lack of self-control was what lead to them being sterilized.
The Dragon Daughters would see a resurgence in the Principality of Krizael hundreds of years later. It took a different form as the VR Krayhanya-TanMeido da Yabokashi. This time, the goddesses were portrayed more like fictional characters rather than proper figures of worship. They were solidified as part of popular culture around the time of the beginning of the Karalian Empire. Virtual companions built in their likeness were being sold regularly. They became one of the most exported goods to other nations around the Galactic Senate, being especially popular in the Union of Eteno Socialist States.
Notably among Vaikan, Dragon Daughter-themed virtual companions saw a major portion of female consumers. It is thought that because the Vaikan population became sterile and that the only way to reproduce was through cloning, it was no longer considered wholly necessary for a couple to be strictly male and female in order to have children. The relationship aspect with the Dragon Daughters became far more important than the procreation aspect. To the Vaikan, gender differences were considered aesthetic, especially given the fact that the sterility plague directly caused a significant reduction of sexual dimorphism. However, the historic preference towards femininity remained dominant.
Fandom rivalry over the most popular Dragon Daughter soon became not just a topic of extranet discussion, but also central to Karalian Empire politics. Many Dukes would adopt a matron goddess to represent their nations. A common source of conflicts between Dukes was over which goddess was the best one. This mindset continued well into the era of the Second Karalian Empire.
